A Personal Invitation from the Owner
On behalf of the Maxwell-Peters family, I personally invite you to visit the Maxwell-Peters Home in Historic Olde Downtown Northport, Alabama. Restoration was a dream from my childhood when I sat with grandmother Pearl watching her early soap operas.
In 1975, the Home was included on the Alabama Historical Commission Register of Landmarks and Heritage. Please refer to the links for information on the family and history.
The professional kitchen, hallway, formal rooms, and grounds offer quaint and personal settings. The master suite is a favorite of brides and bridesmaids.
Make a special date on the first Tuesday, of December, annually, to attend Northport’s Dickens Festival and visit the home. It will be decorated with Christopher Radko Christmas ornaments.
Personal Regards,
Southern elegance under the Magnolias - the historic Maxwell-Peters Home should be the place for your next occasion. Built in 1867, the Home and grounds create a perfect setting for all events. The Home is used for all types of occasions:
- Weddings
- Receptions
- Anniversaries
- Reunions
- Charitable Events
- Business Meetings
- Parties
The Home is available for bookings throughout the year. Home Rules allow use of candles to accent event ambience, and rooms and hallway lights all have dimmers to set your desired lighting.
Please open the attached picture presentation. For dressing and make-up, the master bedroom and bath are used by ladies. Men use the guest bedroom and bath.
The backyard can accommodate a 30x40 tent, and the side yard a 20x40 tent. There are three (3) porches – the front and back porches each are 10x55 and are often are used for DJ’s and bands. Electrical outlets are available for all areas. The orchard area is a special venue for large groups exceeding 400. This area between the backyard and the world’s longest wooden railroad trestle can accommodate a 60x60 tent plus a 20x40 tent, and has two (2) separate, dedicated 30-amp (60-amp total) electrical outlets.
The arch in the backyard, constructed of historic Chicago fire brick from the Chicago fire, is a popular setting for weddings. The backyard and back porch facing the arch can accommodate seating for 300.
